In our quest for security something to really consider is the installation of home security camera systems. Personally my view is that these camera home security systems are not fitted instead of a burglar alarm but are at their best when fitted in conjunction with a burglar alarm system, making it another level in ‘our’ home security.

Whether it’s in the home or at a commercial property these cameras can be a great deterrent for many crimes from criminal damage to theft, most people committing these crimes will not wish to be filmed in the act so they will more than likely move on to an easier target. Covert Camera Security Systems For Home
A covert camera system can be used in tandem with an overt system, it is perhaps better thought of as a ‘spy’ system. Usually these ‘spy’ type cameras are hidden in selected places, in the main these cameras will monitor people who have access to your home, like neighbors, housekeepers, nannies, babysitters, carers, perhaps people carrying out repairs or handyman type work, the list is endless but the net result is the same you can monitor all their activities good or bad and act upon this information. It also must be said that if a determined thief get past your other security systems, a covert security camera systems in the home will record them in the act and aid the police in their duties.
A covert system may feel a little sneaky but if you decide to let people know that you have cameras installed somewhere; it can and will be a deterrent keeping them on the straight and narrow path.
Home Security Wireless Camera Systems
If you are considering installing security camera systems for home, a wireless system should really be considered, they are relatively easy to fit as drilling holes and trailing cables around the home in the main is not required, they can be slightly more expensive than the tethered cable kind but the ease of fitting them must be a serious consideration. However if you are not a DIY expert there are plenty of experienced installers available that will do the job for a fee.
The wireless part refers to transmitting the image to a computer, laptop or hard drive, they will still need power cables, some battery versions are available but the need to continually recharge the batteries make their use a little limiting.

Keep an open mind to these systems it doesn’t have to be a top rated home security camera systems even a basic system can and will work well and really can have a lot of uses, there have been cases of people keeping a watch over their holiday homes via the internet, actually seeing a break in happen in front of their eyes were able to report the crime as it was being committed with the result of the offender being caught in the act.
Whatever the value of your possessions, they are your possessions don’t let it be easy for a criminal to take them at the very least lock and bolt doors and windows and then add as much security as you can afford, often this additional security will earn you discounts on your home insurance, which is a hidden benefit.
Unfortunately these crimes don’t always happen to someone else they can and do happen to any of us, a member of my family was burgled during the night whilst the family was at home earlier this year. Mercifully everyone was safe and unharmed in any way but it was a very unpleasant experience for everyone and a wakeup call for reviewing home security.
